Cassington is a small village and civil parish in the district of West Oxfordshire, in the county of Oxfordshire, England, lying on the low-lying floodplain north of the River Thames about six miles west of Oxford. Historically an agricultural settlement with medieval roots, the village has been shaped by farming and nearby gravel workings and sits close to the villages of Eynsham and Yarnton.
Some of those former gravel pits have become the Cassington Reservoirs, valued wetland habitats that attract wintering wildfowl and birdwatchers, giving the area ecological as well as landscape interest. Today Cassington retains a quiet rural character with a lively community life and modest local amenities, while its proximity to the A40 and Oxford means many residents commute, blending countryside living with easy access to the city and the wider West Oxfordshire economy.
