Acton Burnell is a small village in rural Shropshire, England, set amid rolling farmland not far from Shrewsbury. Its most striking feature is the moated 13th‑century fortified manor, the surviving shell commonly called Acton Burnell Castle, built for Robert Burnell - a powerful medieval Lord Chancellor - and associated with the late‑13th‑century meeting that produced the law known as the Statute of Acton Burnell.
The surrounding estate and Acton Burnell Hall now houses Concord College, an independent international school, which brings an unexpectedly cosmopolitan element and steady visitors to the locality. Otherwise the village has a traditional rural economy centred on agriculture, a close‑knit community and modest tourism focused on the historic ruins and countryside walks.
