Kingswinford is a large village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley, in the West Midlands of England. Historically part of Staffordshire, it sits on higher ground overlooking the Stour valley and the suburban fringe of the Black Country, with easy access to countryside like Kinver Edge while remaining within commuting distance of Stourbridge and Birmingham. The name is thought to come from Old English (something like “king’s swine ford”) and the settlement grew from medieval farming into 19th‑century coal, iron and glass‑related industries.
Today Kingswinford is largely residential with a mix of terraces and modern estates, local shops, pubs and community organisations, and some light industry and retail on the outskirts; many residents commute to nearby towns and cities. Local life benefits from active sports clubs (including a well‑known rugby club), good schools and ready walking and cycling routes into the surrounding countryside, giving a blend of Black Country heritage and suburban living.
