Broseley is a small market town in Shropshire, perched on the slopes above the River Severn at the eastern end of the famous Ironbridge Gorge. Its compact historic centre of red‑brick terraces and old chapels sits tucked between former industrial hamlets such as Coalport and Jackfield, and it’s only a short drive from Telford and Shrewsbury.
Historically Broseley was at the heart of the early Industrial Revolution – coal mining, ironworking, clay tobacco‑pipe making and tile production all shaped the town and its landscape – which is why the area forms part of the Ironbridge Gorge UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today the local economy mixes tourism, independent shops, pubs and commuter households, and the town retains a strong community spirit with regular local events and a visible industrial heritage in museums and preserved sites nearby.
