Dawley and Aqueduct sit on the eastern side of Telford in Shropshire, an area shaped by the Industrial Revolution and later absorbed into the post‑war new town. The neighbourhood still shows its industrial past in old pit and ironworking sites and in the surviving canal features that give Aqueduct its name; at the same time there are Victorian terraces and newer council and private estates that reflect waves of development over the 19th and 20th centuries.
Today the community combines local shops, light industry and commuter links into the wider Telford and Midlands economy, with decent road connections to the M54 and rail services nearby. Culturally it is a working‑class area with active community groups, sports clubs and a civic memory tied to nearby heritage attractions such as Ironbridge Gorge, while social life often centres on local halls, pubs and schools rather than big commercial centres.
