Much Wenlock is a small market town in Shropshire, England, tucked beneath the limestone escarpment of Wenlock Edge. Its compact medieval core, stone houses and the evocative ruins of the priory sit above green valleys and farmland, with fossil-rich Wenlock limestone visible in the surrounding countryside and easy day-trip links to places such as Ironbridge.
The town is best known culturally for the 19th‑century Wenlock Olympian Games, founded by Dr William Penny Brookes and credited with helping to inspire the modern Olympics, and today its economy leans on tourism, local agriculture and a lively scene of independent shops, pubs and community events that give it a strong small‑town feel.
