Dorridge and Hockley Heath form a largely leafy, semi‑rural part of Solihull characterised by two distinct villages: Dorridge is the busier of the two, a well‑heeled commuter centre with a 19th‑century railway station providing regular services into Birmingham and on towards Stratford‑upon‑Avon, a compact high street of independent shops and cafes, and a mix of period houses and more recent developments.
Hockley Heath feels more rural, set among green‑belt farmland and country lanes with historic inns, a strong village community and local sports clubs; its proximity to the M42, Birmingham Airport and the National Exhibition Centre gives good transport and economic links while the area retains a conserved village character and easy access to surrounding countryside.
