Great Elm is a small village and civil parish set in the rolling countryside of Somerset, a few miles north of Frome on the edge of the Mendip Hills. It has a compact, rural character with traditional stone cottages, a historic parish church and surrounding farmland, making it popular with walkers and with people commuting to nearby towns such as Bath.
Locally the economy blends farming and small enterprises with a number of residents who work further afield; community life centres on the village hall and occasional social events. The settlement’s roots stretch back centuries and it keeps a strong sense of place, with narrow lanes and green spaces that reflect its agricultural past and countryside setting.
