Whatley is a small rural village and civil parish in Somerset, England, set on the eastern edge of the Mendip Hills a few miles from Frome. It’s typical east Mendip countryside - limestone fields, narrow lanes and a compact cluster of cottages and farmsteads centred around a village church.
Despite its quiet character, the parish has some notable features: the large limestone Whatley Quarry is an important local employer and occasional focus of planning debate, while the converted manor hotel Whatley Manor brings visitors for dining and spa breaks, supporting rural tourism. The community retains a village feel with local events and good access to walking country and neighbouring historic villages.
