Priddy sits high on the Mendip Hills, a limestone plateau with wide views and easy access to classic caving and walking country. The parish is notable for prehistoric features such as the Priddy Circles and Bronze Age barrows, and for the scarred landscape of former lead working now partly reclaimed as the nature reserve at Priddy Mineries.
It remains a small, mainly agricultural community centred on a village green and the medieval St Lawrence's Church; sheep farming and long‑standing fairs still shape local life, while tourism and outdoor recreation - cavers, walkers and visitors to nearby Cheddar Gorge and the cathedral city of Wells - help sustain the local economy.
