Yate is a town and civil parish in South Gloucestershire, situated about seven miles north‑east of Bristol. Once a small agricultural village, it grew rapidly from the mid‑20th century with large residential developments and business parks, becoming a mixed commuter and light‑industrial centre with a prominent retail centre and several industrial estates.
The town still sits alongside pockets of countryside and green belt and lies close to Chipping Sodbury and the rolling hills of the Cotswolds, giving easy access to rural walks. Local life is centred on community groups, sports clubs, markets and occasional events, and transport links such as Yate railway station and nearby motorways make commuting to Bristol and the wider region straightforward.
