Halmer End and Alsagers Bank are small neighbouring villages in the borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, England. Set on higher ground above surrounding farmland and pockets of woodland, they feel distinctly rural while sitting on the fringes of former coal‑mining country; the landscape and local memorials still reflect their place in the North Staffordshire Coalfield.
Both settlements retain a strong village character - a mix of older terraced housing from the industrial era and more modern homes - and a close‑knit community life centred on local halls, clubs and a couple of pubs and shops. They now largely serve as residential and commuter bases for nearby centres such as Stoke-on-Trent, yet offer easy access to open countryside and leisure opportunities, with the Peak District within comfortable driving distance.
