Loggerheads is a mainly rural ward in the northern part of the Newcastle-under-Lyme borough of Staffordshire, close to the borders with Shropshire and Cheshire. The area is a patchwork of small villages, farms and commuter settlements strung along country lanes and the A53, with easy road links into Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stoke-on-Trent and the market towns just over the county boundary such as Market Drayton.
Locally life revolves around village halls, pubs, sports clubs and agricultural activity, and the ward contains a number of historic churches and listed buildings that hint at its long rural past. The surrounding countryside is popular for walking and cycling, while many residents combine village living with work in nearby towns, giving the ward a mix of traditional community feel and modern commuter patterns.
