Brettenham is a small rural village and civil parish in the district of Babergh, in the county of Suffolk in eastern England. Set among rolling arable farmland, hedgerows and small copses, it lies within reach of market towns such as Hadleigh and Sudbury and is criss-crossed by quiet lanes and public footpaths popular with walkers.
The village’s character is defined by its historic houses and a parish church that still serves as a community focus; the local economy is largely agricultural with a number of residents commuting to nearby towns, and there are a few small businesses and holiday lets that tap into Suffolk’s rural tourism. Social life tends to be close-knit, with church events, occasional village fetes and volunteer groups helping to maintain lanes and commons.
