Haverhill is a market town in the district of West Suffolk in the county of Suffolk, England, lying close to the borders with Cambridgeshire and Essex and roughly 15 miles south‑east of Cambridge. Historically a small agricultural and market settlement, it grew substantially in the 20th century and lost its branch railway link to Cambridge in the 1960s, a change that helped shape its development into a road‑focused commuter and industrial centre.
Today the town mixes light industry and business parks with suburban housing, serving local employment while also sending commuters to nearby centres; it has a busy community life with an arts centre, leisure facilities, regular markets and local events. The surrounding Suffolk countryside gives easy access to walks and outdoor pursuits, so Haverhill often feels like a practical base between town and country.
