Mettingham is a small rural village and civil parish in East Suffolk, Suffolk, England, lying on the fringe of the Waveney valley close to the Norfolk border and within easy reach of the market towns of Bungay and Beccles. The surrounding lowland landscape of arable fields, hedgerows and quiet lanes makes it popular with walkers and birdwatchers.
Despite its modest size, the village has an interesting history centred on the remains of Mettingham Castle and the site of a medieval college, giving a surprising depth to the local heritage. Today the economy is largely agricultural with many residents commuting to nearby towns, while community life revolves around the church, village events and occasional open days at the historic sites and gardens.
