Sizewell is a small coastal hamlet on the North Sea coast in East Suffolk, Suffolk, England. Known for its shingle beach and low dunes, it sits within the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is adjacent to the RSPB reserve at Minsmere, making it popular with birdwatchers, walkers and summer visitors to nearby Aldeburgh and Leiston.
Despite its modest size, Sizewell is nationally notable for its nuclear sites - Sizewell A (now shut and being decommissioned) and the operating pressurised water reactor Sizewell B - and the proposed Sizewell C project has brought both jobs and controversy over environmental impact and coastal defence. The local community balances tourism, conservation and industry, giving the area an unusual mix of tranquil nature, seaside leisure and heavy infrastructure.
