Aldringham cum Thorpe is a small, mainly rural civil parish in East Suffolk, tucked inland from the coast between Aldeburgh and Leiston. The landscape is typical Suffolk - rolling arable fields, hedgerows and small copses - and it lies close to the protected landscapes of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONB, making it popular with walkers and birdwatchers who appreciate quiet lanes and coastal views nearby.
Historically the area has deep roots, with the medieval church at Aldringham and local associations with nearby monastic sites, and its economy remains largely agricultural alongside some tourism and holiday lets drawn by the coast. Community life is small-scale and village-centred, giving the parish a strong sense of local continuity and countryside character while being within easy reach of seaside amenities.
