Red Lodge is a small village in West Suffolk, Suffolk, in the inland Brecks landscape near the Norfolk border. It sits on the edge of pine plantations and heathland that merge into Thetford Forest, giving the area a noticeably sandy, open character compared with much of eastern England, and it’s within easy reach of Newmarket to the south and the town of Mildenhall to the north.
Once a modest settlement, Red Lodge has grown in recent decades as new housing and local amenities were added, becoming a commuter and family-oriented village with a village hall, primary school and small shops. The local economy and community feel are shaped by the nearby horse-racing industry in Newmarket, the presence of RAF Mildenhall and good road links that mean many people travel to Cambridge or Bury St Edmunds for work.
