Dormansland is a village and civil parish in the district of Tandridge in Surrey, England, set on the county’s more rural eastern fringe. The area is characterised by mixed farmland, pockets of woodland and heathland and a pattern of quiet lanes and estate-era housing; much of the settlement grew up from scattered farms and commons in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, which gives the place a pleasantly informal, semi-rural feel.
Locally there is a strong village community with a parish church, village hall, small shops and recreational space, and the economy is a mixture of local trades, small businesses and commuters who travel into London or nearby towns. Walkable countryside, local clubs and occasional village events help retain a social, community-led atmosphere while the locality remains well connected enough for people seeking a quieter base within reach of larger centres.
