North Cheam is a suburban ward in the London Borough of Sutton, sitting on the outer edge of southwest London. It is largely residential, with a mix of Victorian, Edwardian and interwar housing interspersed with local high streets and small commercial parades. The area benefits from nearby green spaces such as Nonsuch Park and Cheam Common, which give it a pleasantly leafy character compared with more urban parts of the borough.
Locally the ward functions as a family‑oriented commuter area served by frequent bus routes and nearby rail connections into central London, while its economy is mainly made up of independent shops, services and small businesses. There is a strong sense of local history - the name and surrounding parkland recall the lost Tudor Nonsuch Palace - and community life is centred on schools, churches and local clubs that host the bulk of social and cultural activity.
