King's Ash is a mainly residential ward on the slopes above the seafront within the borough of Torbay in Devon, part of the wider English Riviera area. It sits close to the larger resort towns of Paignton and Torquay, with a mix of interwar and post‑war housing, pockets of green space and good road links that make the coast and local services easily accessible.
The local scene is quietly community‑minded: small shops, pubs and community centres serve a varied population of families and older residents, many of whom work in the service and tourism sectors that dominate the bay’s economy. Historically the area grew as the seaside towns expanded in the 20th century, and today it combines suburban calm with easy access to coastal paths, beaches and the tourist amenities of the wider Torbay area.
