St. Marychurch is a historic village and ward on the eastern side of Torbay in Devon, now largely suburban to nearby Torquay. The area retains a compact old village centre with a parish church, narrow streets and a mix of Georgian and Victorian buildings, and sits close to the coast and viewpoints around Babbacombe and the Babbacombe Downs, giving pleasant sea views and easy access to seaside walks.
Locally the economy leans on small independent shops, cafes and pubs alongside a residential community; tourism plays a supporting role without the intensity seen in central Torquay. There’s a strong community feel with active local groups, a noticeable older population alongside younger commuters, and ongoing interest in conservation and sympathetic regeneration to preserve the village character.
