Davyhulme is a largely suburban ward in the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford, on the western edge of Greater Manchester and within easy reach of Manchester city centre. It sits close to the River Mersey and neighbouring suburbs such as Urmston and Flixton, with straightforward road links to the M60 and nearby shopping and leisure at the Trafford Centre.
The area is predominantly residential, mixing post‑war and older housing with local shops, schools and community facilities, and has a commuter character with many residents travelling into Manchester. A particularly notable local feature is the significant Davyhulme sewage treatment works, which alongside reed beds and reservoirs supports wildlife and local nature areas; historically the neighbourhood was part of Cheshire before boundary changes, and it retains an active community life centred on parks, sports clubs and village‑scale retail streets.
