North Elmsall is a small civil parish in the metropolitan borough of Wakefield, in West Yorkshire, England. Tucked into the former coalfield belt, it remains largely rural with village streets, farms and pockets of woodland; its roots are agricultural, later influenced by the nearby coal industry that shaped much of the local landscape and economy.
Today the area retains a quiet, close‑knit community feel, with local groups, a village hall and public footpaths across farmland, while many residents commute to larger towns for work. The mix of traditional stone and brick housing, countryside walks and easy access to neighbouring service centres gives the parish a blend of rural character and post‑industrial connections.
