The area centred on Culcheth, Glazebury and Croft sits to the north-east of Warrington in Cheshire and feels distinctly semi-rural, with greenbelt farmland, pockets of woodland and village high streets. It’s popular with commuters for its good road and rail links to Warrington, Manchester and Liverpool via the M62 and M6, while local life centres on pubs, sports clubs, small shops and countryside pursuits such as walking and riding.
Historically the settlements were in Lancashire until the 1974 reorganisation, and you can still find old parish churches and manor houses that hint at that past; the nearby former US airbase at Burtonwood also left a social and economic legacy. Today the area is largely residential and relatively affluent, with active community groups, village fetes and good schools, while larger employers and light industry are concentrated in neighbouring parts of Warrington and nearby business parks.
