The civil parish of Shrewley lies in the district of Warwick in Warwickshire, a few miles northwest of Warwick and just north of Leamington Spa. It is a largely rural area of farmland, hedgerows and small woodlands, notable for the nearby stretch of the Grand Union Canal with its short Shrewley Tunnel, and for easy road links such as the M40 that make it convenient for commuters.
Historically centred on agriculture, the settlement comprises a village and several small hamlets with traditional stone and brick buildings; today the community remains small but active, with a village hall, local clubs and plenty of walking along country lanes and canal towpaths. Boaters and walkers are often drawn to the canalside scenery and nearby Hatton Locks, while most economic activity is a mix of farming and people commuting to larger nearby towns.
