The village and civil parish of Watford sits in West Northamptonshire, England, at a natural low point in the local hills known as the Watford Gap. That gap has long created a key north–south corridor for road and rail - the old Watling Street and the modern M1 run close by - and the surrounding landscape is gently rolling arable countryside with a scattering of farms and stone cottages.
Historically a small agricultural community, Watford now combines rural character with easy commuter access to nearby towns such as Daventry and beyond. The name is widely recognised because of the nearby Watford Gap services, one of the earliest motorway service areas, and the gap itself has entered popular imagination as a notable transport and cultural dividing line in England.
