Ashurst Wood is a small village and civil parish in the district of Mid Sussex, West Sussex, England, set on the rolling sandstone and clay landscapes of the High Weald area. It sits a short drive from the larger towns of East Grinstead and Haywards Heath, with plenty of ancient woodlands and country lanes nearby, giving easy access to walking routes and the wider countryside such as the nearby Ashdown Forest.
Historically a rural settlement that expanded modestly in the 19th and 20th centuries, the village retains a semi-rural character with a mix of local shops, community facilities and small businesses alongside commuter households. Social life is lively for a place of its size, with village events, sports clubs and volunteer groups playing a big part in local identity, while much employment is either local trades and services or commuting to nearby towns and London via convenient rail links.
