Killington is a small, largely rural civil parish in Westmorland and Furness, in the north-west of England, sitting on the undulating limestone and pasture country of the old Westmorland. The area is thinly populated with scattered stone farmhouses, dry-stone walls and a landscape shaped by hill farming, giving it a quietly traditional Cumbrian character.
One of the parish’s more notable features is Killington Reservoir (often called Killington Lake), which and the nearby Killington Lake services on the M6 have given the locality a modest profile beyond the immediate area. The reservoir brings watersports and walkers, while most social and economic life remains tied to farming and nearby market towns such as Kendal, keeping the parish peaceful but well connected.
