Kirkby Lonsdale sits on the banks of the River Lune in Westmorland and Furness, England, tucked between limestone scars and rolling pastures. The town is famous for the dramatic gorge and medieval span known as Devil's Bridge, where the outlook below - often called Ruskin's View - has been admired since the 19th century and frames the idyllic Lune Valley.
Historically a market town with a handsome square and St Mary's Church, Kirkby Lonsdale retains many Georgian buildings and a lively mix of independent shops, cafes and antique dealers. Tourism and agriculture underpin the local economy and it’s a popular base on the A65 between Kendal, the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District, attracting walkers and visitors who come for scenery, history and a friendly market-town atmosphere.
