Barbon is a small rural parish in the unitary authority of Westmorland and Furness in north‑west England, set in the Lune Valley beneath the Howgill Fells and close to the Yorkshire Dales. The village and surrounding hamlets sit along Barbon Beck and are characterised by stone cottages, green lanes and sweeping pastoral views that draw walkers and cyclists.
Historically part of the old county of Westmorland, the area remains largely agricultural - sheep farming still dominates - but tourism and outdoor recreation are important to the local economy. A small, active community centred on the village pub and hall stages local events, fell races and shows, while nearby towns such as Kirkby Lonsdale and Sedbergh provide additional services and visitor attractions.
