Semington is a small village and civil parish in Wiltshire, set beside the Kennet and Avon Canal and the little River Sem. The canal, with the cluster of Semington Locks, and the nearby A350 have shaped the village’s geography and history, giving it a mix of waterside character and easy road links to Trowbridge and Melksham.
Historically agricultural, the parish retains a rural feel with farms and period houses and a close-knit community; the towpath and locks draw walkers and boaters in summer and local amenities such as a village hall and a pub help sustain village life. Many residents commute to nearby towns, and conservation of the canal and local heritage is an active focus of community activity.
