Naburn is a small village and civil parish just south‑east of York, sitting on the banks of the River Ouse. The settlement clusters around the lock and weir and is set in a mix of floodplain, farmland and quiet lanes, which makes it popular for riverside walks, cycling and birdwatching.
Historically an agricultural community with a number of listed buildings and converted farmsteads, Naburn today combines a strong village identity - a pub, village hall and local events - with many residents commuting into York. The presence of the lock, riverside habitat and easy access to the city gives the place a pleasing blend of rural charm and practical convenience.
