Belvoir

Belvoir is an electoral ward in south‑east Belfast, a largely residential slice of the city that sits close to the southern banks of the River Lagan. The area is noted for its suburban feel and pockets of green space, with the Belvoir Park/forest and nearby parks giving it a semi‑rural edge despite being within easy commuting distance of the city centre and the nearby Stormont and shopping facilities such as Forestside.

Demographically it tends to be family‑orientated with a mix of post‑war and later housing, local schools and community clubs shaping much of the local life. Historically the ward grew out of rural estates into a suburban neighbourhood during the 20th century, and today combines quiet residential streets with small clusters of shops and services and a strong sense of local community identity.
