Orangefield is a largely residential electoral ward on the eastern side of Belfast, sitting close to the busy Newtownards Road and forming part of the wider East Belfast urban area. The ward is centred around the green space of Orangefield Park, which occupies grounds of a former estate and provides sports pitches, play areas and community facilities, while the local streets mix older terraced housing with post‑war estates and small parades of shops along main roads.
Historically the area has been a predominantly working‑class, unionist community and like much of east Belfast it experienced social and economic pressures during the late twentieth century, followed by steady regeneration and community projects in recent years.
