Shuna sits just off the shores of Luing in Argyll and Bute, western Scotland, tucked into the sheltered coastal waters of the archipelago around Seil and the Firth of Lorn. It is a small, low-lying island of rocky shorelines, heath and rough pasture, with a quietly scenic feel and wide sea views rather than dramatic hills.
Historically the island supported small-scale crofting and grazing and today is largely used for sheep and seasonal occupation rather than a sizeable permanent community; access is by private boat. It’s a peaceful spot valued for wildlife - seabirds, seals and otters are commonly seen - and for the sense of isolation and local heritage visible in old field walls and cottage ruins.
