Arbroath is a traditional Scottish coastal town on the North Sea in Angus, about 14–16 miles northeast of Dundee. The town centres on a working harbour, sandy and rocky seafront and open promenades, giving it a strong maritime feel that still combines tourism, fishing and light industry.
Arbroath is best known for the ruined Arbroath Abbey, home of the 1320 Declaration of Arbroath, and for its culinary speciality, the Arbroath smokie; the fishing and smoked-fish trades have long shaped the town's economy and identity. Visitors also find maritime displays such as the Signal Tower Museum, traditional festivals and a friendly local community with a proud seafaring and industrial history.
