Gairloch

Gairloch sits on the north-west coast of Highland, Scotland, opening onto the sheltered waters of Loch Gairloch in the heart of Wester Ross. The village is framed by wide sandy beaches and a scattering of small islands, with dramatic views across to the Torridon mountains and, on a clear day, the Isle of Skye; the surrounding geology and scenery make it popular for walking, wildlife-watching and sea trips where seals and seabirds are commonly seen.

Locally the economy still rests on a mix of tourism, crofting and small-scale fishing, while cultural life reflects strong Gaelic roots and a sense of community. Visitors are often drawn to the local museum, Gairloch Museum, and nearby attractions such as Inverewe Garden at Poolewe, with easy access to the lochs and mountains around Loch Maree for hillwalking and exploring Highland history.
