Adamsdown is an inner‑city parish and district of Cardiff, Wales, lying just east of the city centre and sandwiched between central commercial areas and neighbouring residential districts such as Roath. The neighbourhood is traversed by busy arteries like Newport Road and benefits from excellent transport links, notably close to Cardiff Central station, while key local institutions include the Cardiff Royal Infirmary.
Originally developed in the 19th century with Victorian terraces for dock and railway workers, Adamsdown today is a socially mixed, multicultural area with a mix of social housing, student lets and small independent shops and pubs. It has a strong local community identity and has seen waves of regeneration and investment in recent years, bringing both new opportunities and pressures around housing and change.
