Northop is a small village and community in Flintshire, north‑east Wales, set on a ridge with pleasant views across the Cheshire Plain towards the Dee estuary. Its Welsh name, Llaneurgain, hints at the long history of the area and its location close to the English border gives it a mix of rural tranquillity and easy access to nearby towns.
The village is best known for the medieval church of St Eurgain and St Peter and the nearby historic estate at Northop Hall, while much of the surrounding countryside remains agricultural. Many residents commute to Chester or the Deeside industrial corridor, but local life still centres on village events, the hall, a small cluster of shops and pubs, and community groups that keep a strong social fabric.
