Peblig is a ward within the town of Caernarfon in Gwynedd, named after the local saint and lying close to the historic centre and Caernarfon Castle. It is largely residential, with a mix of older terraces and later housing, and benefits from being near the town’s shops, schools and tourist facilities so the local economy is shaped by services and visitor trade as well as small businesses.
The area has a strong Welsh-speaking community and a visible sense of local identity, with community groups and churches playing a role in social life. Its connections to the medieval history of Caernarfon and its convenient position between the town centre and surrounding countryside make it an interesting blend of urban and traditional Welsh influences, while also facing the usual pressures around housing and employment common to small urban wards.
