Pwllheli is the principal market town on the Llŷn Peninsula in Gwynedd, sitting on the sheltered southern shore of Cardigan Bay. It has a working harbour and a large marina, is the terminus of the Cambrian Coast Line, and makes a popular base for sailing, coastal walks and visiting the dramatic landscapes of nearby Snowdonia.
Historically a market and fishing port that expanded in the Victorian era, Pwllheli today relies on a mix of tourism, marine services and local agriculture. It retains a strong Welsh-speaking community and lively cultural life, with local choirs, festivals and seasonal events that reflect the town’s maritime traditions and rural hinterland.
