Trawsfynydd is a sparsely populated, rural ward in Gwynedd, Wales, centred on the small upland village of the same name and the man‑made Llyn Trawsfynydd reservoir. Set close to the fringe of Snowdonia (Eryri), the area is characterised by rolling pastures, heath and conifer plantations, quiet roads and the remnants of a branch railway that once served local industry and the reservoir.
The ward has a strong Welsh‑speaking community and an economy traditionally based on sheep farming, forestry and small‑scale tourism - fishing, walking and wildlife watching are common draws. A notable chapter in its recent history is the now decommissioned Trawsfynydd nuclear power station, whose construction and later closure shaped local employment and continues to influence discussions about future energy and redevelopment projects for the site and surrounding landscape.
