Y Felinheli is a small harbour village on the shore of the Menai Strait in Gwynedd, Wales, sitting roughly between Caernarfon and Bangor. The village looks across the water towards Anglesey and the mountains of Snowdonia, and its compact waterfront and marina give it a strong maritime character.
Historically known as Port Dinorwic, Y Felinheli grew around the export of slate from the Nantlle valley and had shipbuilding and dockside industries; today the economy is more centred on leisure boating, local services and people commuting to nearby towns. It remains a largely Welsh‑speaking community with active local clubs and a visible sense of history in its quays and streets.
