Llanddeiniolen sits on the western edge of Snowdonia National Park in Gwynedd, a landscape of rugged hills, slate quarries and sweeping mountain views towards Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa). The community includes scattered settlements such as Deiniolen and Dinorwig, where the dramatic terraces of nineteenth‑century slate working give way to upland pastures and forestry.
Historically the area grew around slate quarrying and the vast Dinorwig workings, later adapted for the subterranean Dinorwig Power Station (Electric Mountain); today the local economy mixes farming, commuting and tourism, while the community remains a stronghold of the Welsh language with notable historic churches and active chapel and village life.
