The Aethwy ward sits on the southern-eastern side of the Isle of Anglesey, hugging the shores of the Menai Strait and centred on the town of Menai Bridge with several neighbouring villages. The strait frontage gives the area a maritime feel, with promenades, boat moorings and striking views across to Snowdonia; the suspension crossing at Menai Bridge is an ever-present local landmark.
Its economy mixes tourism, small-scale coastal trade and agriculture, with visitors drawn to coastal walks, Georgian streets and nearby historic sites such as Beaumaris Castle. Welsh language and community life remain strong, reflected in village halls, local festivals and a quiet island rhythm that balances visitor trade with everyday island living.
