Canol Bangor is the central ward of Bangor in Gwynedd, sitting on the northern edge of the Menai Strait with clear views across to Anglesey and easy access to the peaks of Snowdonia. It contains much of the city's historic core, including the precincts around Bangor Cathedral, and combines compact residential streets with the city centre's shops, cafés and civic buildings.
The ward has a mixed social and economic character: a steady flow of students from Bangor University sits alongside long‑term residents, which gives a lively cultural mix and seasonal shifts in footfall. Local amenities, heritage attractions and good rail and road links - centred on Bangor railway station - mean it plays a key role in tourism, retail and public services for the surrounding area.
