Caerwent is a quiet ward in Monmouthshire, Wales, set on rolling farmland a few miles west of Chepstow and south‑west of Newport, with views towards the Severn Estuary. Its most notable feature is the remains of the Roman town of Venta Silurum, where substantial earthworks, buried archaeology and a small museum give the area a strong sense of layered history.
The ward keeps a largely rural, agricultural feel while many residents commute into nearby towns or along the motorway corridor. The footprint of the former MOD depot and training area at Caerwent has left a modern imprint - some buildings have been repurposed for light industry and filming - yet village life, local pubs and the parish church maintain a close‑knit community atmosphere.
