Caldicot (Cil-y-coed)

Caldicot is a small market town in Monmouthshire, south‑east Wales, sitting close to the mouth of the Severn Estuary and bordered by the low‑lying Caldicot Levels. Its compact centre is dominated by the Norman keep of Caldicot Castle, set in public grounds, and the town’s waterside position has shaped a history of farming, milling and later industrial development.

Today Caldicot blends a commuter population working in Newport and Bristol with local manufacturing, retail and a growing residential community; annual events, active clubs and ongoing regeneration projects give it a strong local identity on the Welsh‑English border.
